TheTab is a browser extension designed to manage and organize browser tabs efficiently, with a focus on restoring the classic one-click tab-saving functionality that some users missed from previous versions of similar tools. It introduces a gamified approach to tab management, allowing users to earn experience points (XP), unlock up to 19 achievements, and progress through 10 levels as they save and organize tabs. The platform is aimed at users who handle large numbers of browser tabs and seek both productivity and a more engaging, rewarding experience while managing their workflow.

Key features of TheTab include one-click saving of all open tabs, automatic organization of saved tabs by date and browser tab groups, and instant restoration of entire groups or individual tabs. The extension offers a statistics dashboard with 30-day activity charts, weekly heatmaps, domain analytics, and RAM savings metrics. Users can recover tabs closed within the past 30 days, search saved tabs by title or URL in real time, and benefit from a dark mode that can be toggled instantly. TheTab also provides backup and restore functionality via JSON export and import, as well as seven distinct save options accessible from the context menu, such as saving selected tabs, all tabs, tabs to the left or right, tab groups, or all windows.

Further organizational tools include folders and tags for grouping tab collections, the ability to star favorites, and address bar search by typing 'tt' to find saved tabs without leaving the current page. Users can browse tab history with date filters and optionally enable bookmark mirroring, which syncs saved tabs with a dedicated browser bookmarks folder for cross-device access. The extension supports importing tab data from OneTab exports and offers full undo history for any action, including deletions and restores.

TheTab is available for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave, Opera, and other Chromium-based browsers, with full feature parity across platforms. All tab data is stored locally by default, with no cloud storage or account required. The service is completely free, with all features included and no hidden costs. Privacy is emphasized, as no personal data or browsing history is transmitted; only anonymous usage analytics are collected, which can be disabled by the user.
