Therecanonlybe

Therecanonlybe is a single-file network topology and diagram editor delivered as one self-contained HTML file. It addresses the need to map nodes and connections for networks, smart homes, sports plays, mind maps, infrastructure layouts, and similar scenarios without installation or external dependencies.

The editor provides a large zoomable and pannable canvas with a minimap, right-click context menus, and support for adding text labels, boxes, and custom lines. Free-draw mode allows polylines, rectangles, and styled text. Multiple node shapes represent servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and clouds; each node supports editable name, IP, role, tags, and notes along with resizing and per-node styling. Rack topologies include U-slot assignment and visual capacity indicators. Smart routed connections support multiple links, directional arrows, custom width, color, labels, and port labels. A layer system enables toggling visibility among physical, logical, security, and application layers. Nodes can be locked or grouped, with bulk operations for align, distribute, clone, delete, lock, and group. Full keyboard control covers arrow-key nudging, tab cycling, undo, redo, copy, paste, and zoom. Mobile support includes a rewritten UI with resizable footer, touch controls, double-tap gestures, and responsive layout. Recording and replay capture topology changes in real time or step by step, with export as animated video. All data embeds directly in the exported HTML file.

Enterprise encryption uses AES 256 GCM with PBKDF2 and 200000 iterations via the browser-native Web Crypto API, with zero server communication and non-recoverable design by intent. The tool runs offline-first in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari on desktop and mobile as well as modern Android and iOS browsers. The Networkening edition adds over 10000 icons from MDI, Simple Icons, and selfh.st libraries, editable icon shapes, and live status monitoring with manual or auto ping, configurable intervals, status scheduling, and visual color-coded indicators. The Verse edition adds real-time multi-user collaboration, Docker-based deployment, shared topology server, admin dashboard, network auto-discovery scanner, persistent storage, and QR code sharing.

Three editions exist. Core supplies the base diagramming, rack views, encryption, recording, and offline operation. Networkening includes everything in Core plus icons and live monitoring. Verse includes everything in Networkening plus the collaboration and Docker features. Each edition is available as a downloadable single HTML file; Verse is additionally supplied via Docker image.
