T-Rank is a technology developed by Translated to support the selection of professional human translators for translation projects. It addresses the challenge of matching projects with the most suitable translator, emphasizing that traditional selection methods based solely on resumes or academic records may not guarantee the best fit for a specific job. T-Rank analyzes each project’s characteristics and evaluates a large pool of vetted translators to recommend the best match.

The system operates by considering over 30 factors, including the quality and timeliness of previous jobs, daily turnaround, area of expertise, and the content of the document. This analysis produces a ranking of translators, with the top candidate statistically identified as the best fit for the project. T-Rank also automatically prioritizes translators who have demonstrated better performance on a client’s content and can create dedicated teams of translators for ongoing needs, ensuring continuity even in cases of professional turnover.

T-Rank benefits both clients and translators. For clients, it aims to ensure a perfect match between project and translator, streamline the selection process, and maintain consistency across projects. For translators, it offers a merit-based and unbiased selection process, assigns jobs that align with their skills and specialties, provides ongoing feedback on quality and professionalism, and includes a real-time availability function to reduce unnecessary communications.

The system is not an automatic translation tool; instead, it serves as a decision-support tool for Project Managers, who retain the final say in translator selection. T-Rank continually learns from feedback provided by translators, Project Managers, and clients, refining its recommendations over time. The underlying technology uses artificial intelligence to define a multidimensional metric space, measuring the distance between each translator and the ideal translator for a specific job, and adjusting its parameters based on past outcomes. T-Rank is integrated into Translated’s workflow and is used on every job processed by the company.
