Sylos

Sylos is a self-hosted data migration tool for moving files from cloud to cloud, drive to drive, or between other storage locations. It is built for deliberate migration runs in which the user reviews a plan before data is copied, and it is presented as open source and free forever.

Its feature set centers on controlled transfers and review. Sylos lets users preview what will change, inspect differences between source and destination, filter files by type, folder depth, or regex patterns, and make adjustments before executing a copy. It keeps session history, shows real-time progress and status during discovery and copy phases, and allows migrations to be paused and resumed exactly where they left off after interruptions, crashes, or restarts. The interface also supports searching through items, changing individual items or whole subtrees, retrying failed items, excluding pending items, and narrowing large lists with search filters and sort options.

The tool runs on the user’s own machines, and the page states that data never leaves the user’s control and that no cloud services or third parties are involved. Sylos is described as having a graphical app by default, with a terminal interface also mentioned, and a TUI is noted as being in development.
