The tool addresses the common challenge faced by tennis players of not knowing when their racquet strings have lost optimal tension, which can impact power, spin, control, and comfort during play. By leveraging acoustic analysis, the app enables users to tap their racquet strings near the iPhone's microphone and receive an instant, precise tension reading without the need for any external accessories or hardware.

The app provides real-time guidance through a built-in Quality Coach, ensuring that measurements are accurate by monitoring environmental noise, tap quality, and signal strength. It automatically rejects invalid readings, helping users obtain reliable results. String Tension AI cross-verifies each measurement using multiple independent analysis methods for increased accuracy. After each reading, the app displays the string tension in pounds or kilograms, confidence scores, signal quality, and the percentage of tension lost since the last measurement. Users can track tension decay over time, helping them understand how their strings are performing and when they are likely to fall below their preferred comfort zone.

A notable feature is the AI-powered Tension Advisor, which analyzes factors such as playing history, court surface, weather, arm health, and user priorities to recommend the optimal tension and timing for restringing. The app provides transparent reasoning for its recommendations, aiming to help players avoid playing with "dead" strings and optimize their racquet performance for each match. All processing is performed entirely on the device, ensuring user data remains private and does not leave the iPhone.

String Tension AI is available as a free download on the App Store for iPhone running iOS 17 or later, with no account required and no paywall for core tension measurement features. An Android version is planned for future release.
