SpendGuard for Amazon is a free and open-source Chrome extension designed to help users monitor and manage their spending on Amazon across 21 regional domains. The tool addresses the need for greater visibility and control over online shopping habits by aggregating purchase totals and providing real-time feedback during the checkout process. The extension displays a warning banner on checkout pages to show users how much they have already spent, encouraging more mindful purchases. It also offers an interface lock feature, which allows users to block access to Amazon during configurable hours using a full-screen overlay and countdown timer, preventing impulsive browsing and shopping. A draggable popup widget is available on Amazon pages, displaying 30-day and 3-month spending totals and allowing users to position or minimize it as desired. SpendGuard caches scraped order data for 24 hours to ensure fast performance, with the option to force-refresh data for up-to-date figures. A guided six-step onboarding tutorial introduces new users to all features, using spotlight highlights and keyboard navigation support.

SpendGuard for Amazon processes all data locally within Chrome's built-in storage, ensuring that order information is never sent to external servers. The extension does not collect analytics, telemetry, or any personal data, emphasizing user privacy and transparency. It supports all types of Amazon orders, including Prime, standard, digital, and physical, as long as they appear in the user's Amazon order history. Installation requires adding the extension from the Chrome Web Store, after which it activates automatically when visiting any supported Amazon domain.
