Snapshot API is a screenshot, visual comparison, and webpage analysis API from Snapshot Site. It is built for workflows that capture webpages, compare two states, and return structured AI insights from page content.

The API exposes three main versions for different tasks. v1 is for basic screenshot capture with a minimal JSON body and supports options such as output format, viewport width and height, delay before capture, full-page capture, and hiding common cookie banners. v2 controls rendering, while v3 adds compare and analyze workflows. Compare v3 returns before, after, and diff image URLs together with mismatch metrics, and analyze v3 returns both capture data and AI-generated page insights. The API also supports use of delay, hide, and javascriptCode for dynamic pages.

Requests use JSON over HTTPS, with an API key passed in the x-snapshotsiteapi-key header. The base URL is https://api.prod.ss.snapshot-site.com, and the MCP URL is https://mcp.snapshot-site.com/mcp. Snapshot Site also provides official SDKs and tools: a TypeScript SDK for Node.js services, scripts, and full-stack apps; a Python SDK for content QA, batch capture jobs, AI analysis pipelines, and local asset downloads; a PHP SDK for Laravel, Symfony, WordPress, and custom backend screenshot workflows; a hosted MCP server that works with ChatGPT, Claude, and other MCP clients or can run locally in stdio mode; and a CLI for shell workflows, CI jobs, quick comparisons, and saving returned assets locally. The Snapshot Site Console runs in the browser and is used to manage API keys, usage, billing, and test requests.
