SMF – Search my Files is a Windows desktop utility for finding files and handling duplicate-file searches. It combines file search, file copying and moving, file deletion and erasure, and duplicate previewing in one program.

Its search tools are described as having excessive filter capabilities, with results managed through a SQLite-driven reporting tool. The page says it can search for files by last modified date, keyword, and file attribute, and can search for pictures by filesize, dimension, and EXIF information. It also supports searching for MP3 files by length, author, and bitrate, and for duplicate pictures by filesize and dimension. A separate list of features adds searching by location, searching files and folders, polling filenames and locations in long and short 8.3 format, polling file extensions, file times, filesize, file attributes, and extended attributes, and filtering by extension, attribute, filesize, filetime, or regular expressions.

SMF also supports extracting true file type information using TrIDLib.dll, extracting media information using MediaInfo.dll, calculating hashes including md5, crc32, and sha1, and extracting and analyzing ADS alternative file streams from any file. Search results can be saved and loaded, and the reporting tool allows querying and previewing files, including jpg, pdf, mpg, and other previews supported by Windows Explorer. It can open, copy, move, delete, or erase any file found, and initiated searches can continue in the background while the program is minimized to the tray.
