RootBadger

RootBadger is a modern Usenet-style discussion platform. It provides hierarchical topic groups under the rb. namespace, threaded conversations, readable posts, message headers, signatures, RSS feeds, private messages, and searchable communities. The service targets users seeking smaller, focused groups and actual threaded discussions without algorithmic feeds.

It presents an organized alternative to contemporary internet forums by reviving elements of old-school internet culture in a cleaned-up form. Available groups include rb.arts.dark-corners for gothic and strange creative topics, rb.alt.lameyslair for reminiscing about classic Usenet, rb.comp.os.linux for Linux operating system discussions, and rb.alt.hackers for hacker culture. Administrators pin selected threads such as challenges on post counts and announcements about accessibility improvements, including enhanced screen reader support.

The platform supports browsing all groups, searching content, viewing recent activity, and consulting a group map. It includes profiles and an Android beta app for mobile access. A beta is currently open for new users alongside options to sign in or join.
