Shelf

shelf-extension.com·Read-it-later & curation

Shelf is a Chrome extension for long-term reading. It saves articles, videos, and podcasts to files the user owns, including Markdown, Notion, Obsidian, and Logseq. The site describes it as local-first and says it uses no account and no telemetry.

It captures title, excerpt, thumbnail, and reading time with Alt+S or from the right-click menu. Saved items can be organized in collections, with free accounts allowing one level of nesting and Pro allowing up to five. Shelf also includes a reading streak with a weekly freeze, a Daily Pick notification at 9am, an empty-inbox reward, and an unread counter on the toolbar. It supports YouTube transcript capture with timestamps, highlights as text is selected, and import from Pocket and CSV.

Export is built around one-click sending to Markdown, Obsidian, Logseq, and Notion. Obsidian and Logseq use URL handlers, and Notion uses a paste integration token without OAuth or servers. The pricing shown includes a Free tier with unlimited saves, export to the supported destinations, up to two simultaneous destinations, and the core organization features. Pro is listed at €4.99 per month or €49.99 per year and adds AI auto-tagging, AI auto-summary, unlimited simultaneous destinations, deeper collections, multi-database Notion routing, smart rules, library backup in ZIP and JSON, and bulk operations. A Founder Lifetime license is also listed at €99.99, limited to the first 200 supporters.
