Rootz AI Discovery

Rootz AI Discovery is an open standard proposal for making websites readable, verifiable, and trustworthy for AI agents. It centers on the AI Discovery Standard at /.well-known/ai, a structured, cryptographically signed endpoint that tells AI agents who an organization is, what it does, and proves the information came from the organization itself.

The standard is organized into three tiers of AI-readable data. Discovery is a compact JSON file described as the equivalent of a business card, with an organization’s identity, core concepts, and capabilities. Knowledge expands that into a fuller knowledge base covering products, team, partnerships, glossary, and technology. Feed is an AI-optimized update stream with structured entries and semantic tags, intended to keep AI systems current without recrawling an entire site. Rootz also describes an AI Readability Scanner that checks for /.well-known/ai, JSON-LD, OpenGraph, meta tags, and more, and reports an AI-Invisible Score.

It is aimed at organizations and website owners who want AI systems to represent their sites more accurately. The page also describes a generator for creating the files, a WordPress plugin for automatic setup, and implementation prompts for Express/Node.js and Next.js. Deployment instructions include serving the file at /.well-known/ai, adding a link rel="ai-discovery" tag to HTML, and using the scanner to verify the result.

The standard is open under CC-BY-4.0, vendor-neutral, and free to implement. Rootz says it is building the tools, gathering early adopters, and preparing IANA registration.
