Reeder

reeder.app·Aggregators & RSS readers·🇺🇸

Reeder is a news-reading application designed for users who want to manage and consume content from a variety of sources in one place. It is available for iOS devices running iOS 17 or later and for macOS computers with macOS 14 or later. The tool integrates reading, watching, and listening experiences by supporting not just RSS feeds, but also videos, podcasts, and social media posts, presenting them all within a unified timeline.

One of Reeder’s distinguishing features is its approach to content tracking. Instead of relying on unread counts, it synchronizes the user’s timeline position across all devices, allowing seamless transitions between devices and enabling users to pick up exactly where they left off. This synchronization, along with the syncing of subscriptions and tagged items such as links, favorites, bookmarks, and items marked for later, is handled through iCloud. The syncing process is designed to be efficient, with changes propagated to other devices within seconds.

Reeder also offers organizational tools such as filters, which let users create custom timelines based on keywords, media types, or feed types. Users can save and organize links directly within the app using its share extension. The platform allows any tag to be converted into a public feed, known as a Shared Feed, which automatically updates as new content is added. These Shared Feeds are publicly accessible and can be viewed in any browser or added to other RSS readers that support JSON feeds, making it easy to share curated content with others.

Privacy is emphasized in Reeder’s design. The application does not collect personal information, usage data, or any other user data, except for data collected by Apple if the user has enabled sharing with developers. All synced data is stored securely in the user’s own iCloud account. net and are intended to be publicly accessible. Users are advised to consult third-party privacy policies for any external services they connect to through Reeder.
