Quizpio

Quizpio is a live quiz plugin designed for WordPress sites, enabling hosts to run interactive multiplayer quizzes, polls, and trivia directly on their own website. The tool is self-hosted, requiring no third-party service or external app, and operates entirely within the WordPress environment using REST polling for real-time updates. Players can join sessions from any device by entering a game PIN and choosing a nickname, with no need for accounts or downloads. Logged-in WordPress users receive additional features such as saved nicknames and a personal history of past plays.

Quizpio supports both multiple-choice (up to four options) and true/false questions, each customizable with individual timers and point values. Quizzes are built using Gutenberg blocks, allowing each quiz to exist as a standalone post with its own URL or to be embedded within any page. Host controls facilitate the management of live sessions, including launching games, sharing PINs, and overseeing the flow of the event. A dynamic leaderboard updates in real time, displaying player rankings, color avatars, and a "YOU" badge for personal placement. The scoring system can reward speed or remain flat, and reveal screens show how the room responded to each question. At the end of a session, a medal podium and confetti send-off provide a celebratory finish.

The tool is suitable for a range of interactive settings, such as classroom warm-ups, training sessions, trivia nights, and audience engagement activities. There is no fixed cap on the number of participants; typical classroom-sized rooms of 50–100 players run comfortably on entry-level shared hosting, and scalability depends on the host's capabilities. Quizpio is compatible with popular WordPress cache plugins, employing cache-busting techniques to ensure smooth live performance.

Results from each session can be exported as a CSV file, including details such as nicknames, ranks, scores, answer breakdowns, correct responses, points, and response times. The core version of Quizpio is free and open source, and all data remains on the site owner’s server.
