PureMIDI is an AI-powered online tool designed to convert audio recordings into editable MIDI files. It addresses the need for musicians, producers, and educators to transcribe melodies, chords, and arrangements from audio sources, providing a starting point for further editing, arrangement, or educational use. The platform operates entirely in the browser, requiring no plug-ins or software installation, and supports a range of audio formats including MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, WEBM, and AAC, with a maximum file size of 12MB per upload.

The service offers two primary conversion modes. The Quick Melody mode is tailored for single, clear melodic lines such as solo vocals, lead instruments, or riffs, producing a one-track MIDI file that captures pitch, timing, and velocity. This mode is best suited for monophonic audio and uses one credit per conversion. The Pro Song mode is intended for more complex audio, such as full songs, backing tracks, or polyphonic piano, generating a multi-track MIDI draft that separates melody, bass, chords, and drums. This mode uses between six and fifteen credits depending on the length of the audio. mid files, compatible with all major digital audio workstations (DAWs) including Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Cubase, Reaper, and GarageBand.

PureMIDI’s AI engine detects each note’s pitch, onset and offset times, and velocity, enabling users to download and further refine the MIDI drafts in their preferred DAW. The platform provides practical advice for achieving optimal results, recommending the use of clean, lossless audio formats and isolated instrumental or vocal lines for higher transcription accuracy. It also offers instrument-specific guides and workflow tips for different DAWs and instruments such as guitar and piano.

The tool operates on a credit-based system, granting new users two free trial credits upon signup. There is no subscription required, and users can upgrade to a Pro plan for longer conversions and additional credits.
