PuffPix Compress is a WordPress plugin designed to automatically reduce image file sizes during upload, streamlining image optimization for site owners and content creators. The plugin addresses the challenge of large, unoptimized images by compressing every image as it enters the WordPress media library, with no manual steps required. It supports a variety of formats, including PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, and SVG, and provides both automatic and bulk optimization options.

Beyond compressing new uploads, PuffPix Compress offers a bulk compress feature for existing media libraries, allowing users to optimize all previously uploaded images in one batch. The bulk compress screen displays before and after file sizes for each image, giving clear insight into storage savings. For advanced needs, the plugin introduces a folder mode, enabling users to compress entire server directories, such as wp-content/uploads and all subdirectories, via the PuffPix API. SVG files exported from design tools like Figma, Illustrator, or Sketch often contain unnecessary metadata, comments, and invisible layers; PuffPix Compress strips this extraneous data using SVGO, reducing SVG file sizes by up to 60% without affecting visual quality. The plugin also provides per-image statistics within the WordPress media library, showing original and compressed sizes as well as the percentage of savings for each file. Users can select from different compression engines—Fast, Balanced, or Max—with the Max mode utilizing mozjpeg and pngquant for maximum file reduction.
