Promptix

Promptix is a macOS application that enables users to run AI on selected text in any application by pressing a hotkey. It addresses the need to perform tasks such as editing, rewriting, and translating without switching between apps and AI tools.

The tool provides five built-in prompts for common actions including Translate, Rewrite, Improve text, Fix grammar, and Summarize. Users can create and save custom prompts for specific tasks, which are then triggered in the same manner. It supports any LLM compatible with the OpenAI API format, including services from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral AI, DeepSeek, Cohere, and local models. Users supply their own API keys so that requests are sent directly to the chosen service without external storage of data.

A feature called Prompt as App turns a defined prompt into a standalone application that appears in the macOS Launchpad. These apps support assignment of a custom icon. An upcoming capability will automatically convert prompts into structured input forms. The application is delivered as a downloadable desktop program for macOS.

Promptix offers a free plan limited to 50 requests per day and 10,000 characters per request. The Pro plan costs 4.99 per month and raises the allowance to 500 requests per day with unlimited characters per request subject to model limits while adding access to more AI models.
