DevDex

DevDex is a free GitHub portfolio generator that converts any GitHub username into a game-style portfolio page. It addresses the limitation of conventional GitHub profiles that display work through simple pinned lists by presenting developer activity as an interactive Steam-style world with levels, streaks, achievements, and themes.

The service generates pages live from the GitHub API using every public repository along with its stars, languages, and activity. These elements appear in an app-store-like layout that includes curated projects, screenshots, demo links, and customizable themes. Users sign in with GitHub to claim their world, feature selected projects, hide unwanted items, add screenshots and demo videos, and choose a theme. All customizations are stored in a .devstore.json file placed inside a repository owned by the user. DevDex maintains no database of its own.

Pages are delivered as web content at devdex.tech followed by the username. The link remains current without any deployment because the page renders directly from the live GitHub profile on each visit. No setup, database, or maintenance is required. The tool is open source and free forever.

It functions as a wrapper around existing public repository data to create a more expressive presentation of a developer's identity and contributions. Examples include profiles for users such as torvalds, sindresorhus, and cassidoo.
