PerfectPixel is a Chrome extension designed for developers, designers, and QA engineers to compare live web pages against design mockups, facilitating precise visual quality assurance. The tool addresses the challenge of ensuring that web layouts match design specifications exactly, allowing users to overlay design images directly onto their web pages to catch visual discrepancies such as misaligned padding, incorrect colors, or font sizes.

Users can import mockups by dragging files, pasting from the clipboard, or loading images from a URL. PerfectPixel supports multiple image formats, including PNG, JPG, SVG, and WebP, and allows the import of multiple images at once. The extension provides pixel-level control, enabling users to adjust overlay opacity, position overlays pixel-by-pixel using keyboard shortcuts, scale for HiDPI displays, and quickly toggle overlays on and off. Advanced features include blend modes such as "Difference" for highlighting mismatched pixels, as well as "Multiply" and "Overlay" for color and tone comparisons. Users can lock overlays and click through to inspect underlying DOM elements with Chrome DevTools, making it possible to tweak CSS in real time without toggling between tools.

The extension supports managing multiple overlay layers per site, with the ability to group them into folders. Overlays persist across sessions and are synced across browser tabs. The free plan includes up to two layers per domain, while a paid PRO plan offers unlimited layers and folder management. PerfectPixel is compatible with any development stack or framework, including MUI and Tailwind, and supports device emulation, focus trap, touch input, and local files.
