LazyPi

LazyPi is a command-line tool designed to provide an instant, fully configured setup for the Pi coding agent. It addresses the challenge of configuring and researching the optimal environment for Pi by enabling users to install a curated collection of community-developed skills, themes, and integrations with a single command. The tool is intended for developers and users of the Pi coding agent who want to enhance their experience with minimal setup effort.

Upon execution, LazyPi installs over 60 community skills and 67 themes, as well as support for MCP servers, sub-agents, persistent memory stored as Markdown files, Claude Code CLI provider, cost and usage tracking, todo tracking, autoresearch, and planning mode. The included features are hand-picked from the Pi community, offering a starting point that combines Pi’s minimalist philosophy with a broad set of enhancements. Users can choose to install all packages at once or interactively pick specific ones according to their needs.

The catalog of integrations includes tools for running isolated sub-agents, connecting to MCP-compatible tool servers, web search and URL fetching, planning modes with approval-based execution, code review for clarity and consistency, project directory management, prompt templating, and more. UI extensions provide features such as terminal-native diff review, live status lines, shared settings, token usage and API cost tracking, clipboard management, todo list tracking, and interactive shell overlays. Research-focused packages support long-running autoresearch and iterative development loops with self-reflection. Official frameworks, like Compound Engineering’s planning and review methodology, are also available through the platform.

LazyPi is delivered as an npm package and can be run via npx. It automatically installs Pi if not already present and skips previously installed components on subsequent runs. The tool is built by Rob Zolkos, with Pi itself created by Earendil / Mario Zechner. LazyPi is released under the MIT License, making it openly available for use and modification.
