Oncallizer

oncallizer.com·Productivity & Work

Oncallizer produces fair on-call schedules for medical training programs. It accepts a list of staff members and desired caps, then generates a schedule that incorporates rules for weekends, heavy days, pre-weekend protection, and separate balancing for juniors and seniors. The resulting schedule receives a fairness score based on Jain's index and can be adjusted manually before export.

The tool encodes common resident and coordinator concerns such as weekend definitions, heavy-day weighting, per-person weekend caps, and pre-weekend safeguards. Hundreds of seeded schedule attempts are scored using Jain's fairness index to ensure that weekend, pre-weekend, and weekly caps are respected without being silently violated. Slots can be restricted to a single role so that juniors and seniors are each balanced against their own fair share rather than a blended average.

Schedules are edited through a click-based interface that allows swapping two shifts or reassigning individuals. Completed schedules export as a formatted three-sheet Excel workbook. A sample July schedule illustrates block days assigned to ward and ER roles for senior and other staff with a displayed fairness rating of 98.4 percent.

Oncallizer is built for residency and training programs. It is delivered as a web application that requires no patient data and no signup to try. The service remains free while in beta and includes Excel export.
