NextGIS Mobile

NextGIS Mobile is a mobile geographic information system (GIS) application designed for creating, collecting, and editing spatial data directly in the field. It is intended for use outdoors, supporting both online and offline workflows to accommodate areas with poor or unstable internet connectivity. The tool allows users to add layers from cloud or on-premise GIS systems, edit features, and manage attributes, serving as a digital alternative to manual field data collection methods.

Key features of NextGIS Mobile include a spatial data editor, GPS tracking, and an info panel that displays current location, elevation, and speed. The GPS tracking function can record routes by saving detailed information at each track point, such as date, time, speed, elevation, direction, number of satellites, and HDOP. Tracks can be displayed on web maps or exported to GPX format. Users can also create linear or polygonal features by physically moving around an area, which are then added to vector layers.

The application supports custom data collection forms, which can be built using a form editor in a web GIS platform. These forms may include elements like radio buttons, dropdown lists, and checkboxes, each linked to specific columns in the feature table, streamlining data entry and improving data quality. When a new layer is added in the app, the associated form is automatically included.

NextGIS Mobile is available for Android smartphones and tablets, with installation options through Google Play or by downloading an APK file. com (cloud) or NextGIS Web (on-premise)—once connectivity is restored. Documentation and source code are accessible, and support is available for users. The platform is suitable for anyone needing to manage spatial data in the field, particularly where reliable internet access cannot be guaranteed.
