Moneko is an AI-powered budgeting application designed to simplify everyday expense tracking and personal finance management. It addresses the challenges of capturing transactions quickly and organizing spending for both individuals and households, with a particular focus on chat-based workflows and integration with messaging platforms. The tool enables users to track expenses directly from WhatsApp, process receipts from email, handle voice notes, and manage mobile alerts, making it adaptable to various input preferences and real-time spending updates.

A central feature of Moneko is its "Pockets" system, which uses envelope-style budget containers to allocate, track, and adjust spending across categories such as groceries, transport, eating out, and bills. Budgets can be split into pockets, copied from previous months, and refined during the month, with category mapping available for uncategorized transactions. The app also supports a "Household Mode" to separate personal expenses from shared bills, rent, groceries, and partner reimbursements, catering to users who manage finances with others.

Moneko offers multiple transaction capture methods: users can add expenses through typed messages, receipt photos, voice notes, file attachments, and by forwarding emails with receipts or supported file formats (PDF, CSV, XLS, XLSX). The WhatsApp assistant mirrors app functionality, allowing users to log expenses, request spending summaries, manage pockets, and receive chart links or quick-reply buttons, all from within a chat interface. Email receipt capture is supported by forwarding receipts or attachments from approved addresses, with confirmation provided when processing is complete.

The application provides an overview dashboard showing spending, cashflow, charts, recent activity, and currency controls, with the ability to switch between personal and household modes. Recurring bills and income are tracked for monthly planning, calendar views, and forecasting. Moneko's "Wallets" feature tracks accounts, balances, goals, transfers, income, spending, and net worth history, supporting both manual wallets and Plaid-connected US or Canadian bank accounts where available. AI-driven insights answer questions about budget status, spending trends, and scenario planning, such as whether a purchase can be made by a specific date or what has changed in the budget during the month.
