Mei

Mei is a private AI companion for iPhone that is designed to keep conversations on the device and continue across sessions. It is described as a calmer, more human companion that remembers details about the person using it, including routines, preferences, and other things they care about.

The app runs a small language model directly on the iPhone, and its conversations never travel across a network. It offers memory that carries over so the next conversation does not start from zero, and it can pick up from where the last conversation ended. Mei also supports optional access to Calendar, Reminders, and a private meal log so it can add, check, and recall information without leaving the device. The page also shows uses such as chatting, adding reminders and events in natural language, keeping a private journal, logging meals conversationally, and tracking mobility sessions with on-device pose tracking that counts repetitions.

Mei is built for iPhone 13 Pro and newer. It requires no account or login, and the page says there are no servers for conversations, no ads, and no sharing. The only data that may leave the device is an anonymised crash report when the app itself crashes, and it says that deleting the app removes what Mei knew about the user.
