Little Learner

Little Learner is a bilingual learning app designed specifically for toddlers and their families, supporting early language development in a safe, engaging environment. The app offers learning modes tailored for young children ages 2–3, featuring colorful animated tap cards that teach letters, numbers, and everyday phrases across seven languages: English, Thai, French, Spanish, German, Chinese, Japanese, and Filipino. Each card displays large characters, picture hints, and phonetic pronunciation guides, with real human voices providing audio feedback. Parents and caregivers can participate alongside children, with tools to help non-native speakers sound out words.

A key feature is Echo Mode, which uses AI-powered speech recognition via Google Cloud Speech-to-Text to let children practice pronunciation. The app listens and evaluates spoken responses, providing encouraging feedback and rewards such as confetti bursts, streak counters, and trophy animations. Praise is delivered in the child’s chosen language using natural-sounding AI voices. Echo Mode is optional and can be disabled in settings, and a skip button ensures children are never stuck.

For bilingual families, Conversation Mode offers a real-time interpreter that enables natural, bidirectional live translation between language pairs. The app detects spoken language automatically and displays both original and translated text on screen, with a scrollable conversation history for reference. This feature is designed for use by all family members, including grandparents and caregivers, to support meaningful communication in multilingual households.

Parents have access to a PIN-protected menu, unlocked via a math challenge, where they can record their own voice for any card, manage custom phrases, and calibrate the microphone. All content is bundled on the device, making the app fully offline and suitable for use without Wi-Fi. Safety and privacy are prioritized: the app contains no ads, no in-app purchases, no data collection, and no external links, with safeguards enforced at the architecture level to prevent accidental navigation away from the app.

Little Learner is available on Android phones and tablets, iPhone and iPad, and Windows desktop. Every feature is included without paywalls or premium tiers, and all user data remains on the device.
