Linea Sketch

Linea Sketch is a drawing application for iOS designed to provide a streamlined and accessible sketching experience. The app emphasizes ease of use while offering a range of creative features for sketching, painting, and note-taking. It is available as a free download with premium features accessible through in-app purchase.

The tool provides a simplified layering system, allowing up to five layers per project that can be rearranged, merged, and adjusted for flexibility. Color selection is made straightforward with a wide palette of pre-defined options and customizable colors, as well as automatic generation of tints and shades. Linea Sketch includes a feature called ZipShape, which automatically refines roughly drawn shapes into perfect versions that can be further tweaked for corner radius and placement. Users can select, move, resize, or duplicate portions of their sketches using lasso tools, and these transformations can be applied to individual or multiple layers.

For painting, the app offers organic pigment modes—Simple, Wet, and Cloud—each providing different textures and effects suited for various artistic styles. Text and labels can be added to sketches, with options to edit using either Apple Pencil or keyboard, choose from various fonts, scale text, and adjust alignment and color. A blending tool is available to soften or smudge sketches, with pressure and brush size affecting the outcome. Textures such as halftones, hatchings, and stippling can be applied for additional creative effects, and can also be used for erasing or masking.

Linea Sketch supports recording the sketching process, allowing users to save either a compressed time-lapse or a full-length video of their work. The app is built with Apple Pencil in mind but also works with finger input and supports the SonarPen 2 stylus. It is compatible with both iPad and iPhone, enabling users to sketch or jot notes on the go. Integration with Linea Link for macOS allows sketches to be opened on a Mac and exported to image editors such as Acorn, Photoshop, and Pixelmator. Video tutorials, tips, and time-lapse drawings are available within the app and on external platforms to help users learn and improve their workflow.
