KeyJump

keyjump.app·Other productivity

KeyJump is a browser extension designed to streamline web navigation by turning the new tab page into a keyboard-driven launcher. Users can assign a single key to any website, enabling instant access by pressing the corresponding key. For example, pressing 'g' opens GitHub, 'm' launches Gmail, and so on. This approach allows for rapid, keyboard-first browsing without the need to use a mouse or type full URLs.

Beyond single-key shortcuts, KeyJump supports grouping sites into folders, which can be accessed with two key taps. The extension also treats sites as search engines, letting users enter free text after a site key to perform a search directly from the new tab. For instance, typing 'y lofi' initiates a YouTube search for "lofi". Additional keyboard shortcuts are available, such as Alt+K to bring up the launcher on any page, and Alt+Shift+K to save the current page.

Customization features include themes and wallpapers, allowing users to personalize the appearance of their new tab page. KeyJump also offers optional sync functionality for cross-device use, described as safe and not requiring an account. The extension can be tried via a live demo in the browser without installation or sign-up.

KeyJump is available through the Chrome Web Store, indicating delivery as a browser extension.
