Katalogue is a user-friendly metadata platform built to help organizations work with data governance, analytics, and shared understanding of data. It is described as a simple, lightweight, and transparent offering built with users, and it draws on Kayenta’s experience in helping organizations align people, process, and technology.

The platform hosts an organization’s common information model and supports collaborative development of that model. Business terms and technical attributes can be linked to data assets through asset-linking features, creating a semantic layer that bridges business and IT. Katalogue also serves as a schema registry for automating table creation in the stage or bronze layer of modern data platforms, and it acts as the master for PII classifications so that non-technical people can manage those classifications and ingestion pipelines can automatically hash sensitive data before it reaches the bronze layer. For data consumers, it provides a single entry point to discover and understand data across the organization.

Its documented capabilities include ingesting technical metadata and automatically visualizing data models through datasource connectors, linking data assets to business terms, and enriching assets with metadata such as ownership. It includes a business glossary for vocabularies, taxonomies, and ontologies; a search engine for finding assets; a semantic layer for defining measures and dimensions; customizable data sensitivity labels for PII and GDPR data; custom attributes; schema-change notifications in a changelog; table-relationship visualization from database constraints or custom rules; and end-to-end lineage from source systems through data platforms to reports. The platform is intended to support data democratization and AI adoption.

Katalogue is presented as enterprise grade and includes Microsoft Entra ID single sign-on and user provisioning, a REST API, password manager integration, and self-hosted deployment. It is built by Kayenta, described as a data and analytics company with expertise in data engineering, strategy, governance, and change management.
