itdatex E-Invoice Output is a WordPress plugin that generates German electronic invoices in compliance with legal requirements that took effect on 1 January 2025 under § 14 UStG. From 2027 or 2028 the obligation to issue e-invoices will extend to B2B transactions, replacing PDFs and Word documents with structured formats. The plugin produces these documents locally inside a WordPress installation without transmitting data to external services.
It creates invoices in three formats: XRechnung 3.0.2 UBL, the standard used for B2G transactions via Leitweg-ID; XRechnung 3.0.2 CII based on UN/CEFACT syntax that aligns with EN 16931 and is also employed by ZUGFeRD and Factur-X; and ZUGFeRD-PDF, a hybrid PDF/A-3 file that contains both a human-readable invoice and an embedded CII XML. Before saving any file the plugin pre-validates the generated XML against the EN 16931 XSD schema. Each invoice receives a random filename and is stored in a protected upload directory.
The tool addresses the need for German businesses to send and receive compliant electronic invoices for B2B and B2G dealings. It is delivered as a free plugin available through the official WordPress.org directory and runs entirely within the WordPress environment. No cloud transmission occurs and all processing stays on the local installation.
In the Finance & accounting space, itdatex E-Invoice Output takes a focused approach. It focuses on generating and storing compliant German electronic invoices without relying on cloud services. It is built as a B2B product for german businesses using WordPress. A free plan is available. It runs on the web, and it can be self-hosted.
Behind itdatex E-Invoice Output is itdatex, based in Germany, and the product first shipped in 2026. Key capabilities include XRechnung Generation, ZUGFeRD PDF, and XML Validation.
