Enhancer for YouTube is a browser extension designed to improve the user experience on YouTube by adding a range of playback and customization features. It is aimed at users who want more control over video playback, appearance, and functionality while watching YouTube content in their web browser.

Among its features, the extension allows users to finely control playback speed using the mouse wheel, and override YouTube’s default speed options with custom increments such as 1.1, 1.15, or 1.2. Users can also set a default playback speed that is automatically applied when videos begin. The tool enables the selection of a preferred playback quality, which is automatically set whenever a video loads. Volume control is enhanced, allowing adjustment with the mouse wheel and the ability to boost video volume beyond standard levels.

Enhancer for YouTube provides options to force the use of specific video codecs and formats, such as choosing standard frame rates (24, 25, 30 FPS) over higher ones (48, 50, 60 FPS), and selecting the MP4 format with the AVC (H.264) codec instead of WebM with VP9. The extension includes controls to prevent videos in background tabs from autoplaying and offers the ability to stop videos entirely to save bandwidth. For viewing flexibility, it features a mini player that launches when scrolling to comments and a pop-up player for watching videos in a separate window.

Customization options extend to hiding elements like comments, chat, related videos, and shorts. Additional capabilities include keyboard shortcuts, loop mode, video filters, cinema mode, a larger player, custom themes, and support for custom scripts. Enhancer for YouTube is available for installation on Chrome, Edge, and Firefox browsers.
