DayDeck

DayDeck is a cognitive task management dashboard developed as a plugin for Obsidian. It is designed to help users bridge the gap between strategic planning and the execution of daily tasks by providing a visual alternative to traditional linear to-do lists. The tool introduces a flexible, multiple group system that adapts to different workflows, enabling users to organize tasks in a way that suits both high-level thinking and immediate action.

A core aspect of DayDeck is its "Two Hat" workflow philosophy. In this system, users alternate between two modes: the Strategist and the Operator. The Strategist mode focuses on high-level sections such as Learning, Admin, and Backlog, serving as a conceptual workspace for organizing what needs to be done without assigning specific times. The Operator mode, on the other hand, centers on sections like "Today" and "Next," where tasks are made specific and actionable, emphasizing time as the primary resource. This approach is intended to keep users aware of their broader objectives while maintaining focus on shipping work for the current day.

DayDeck replaces standard to-do list formats with a visual, group-based dashboard, allowing for a more adaptable and cognitive approach to task management within Obsidian. Users can install DayDeck directly from the Obsidian Community Plugins store and access it via a ribbon icon within the application.
