CodeShellManager

CodeShellManager is a free, open-source desktop application for Windows designed to help developers manage multiple AI coding agent sessions, specifically with Claude Code, in a single organized interface. It addresses common workflow challenges faced when running several Claude Code sessions in separate terminals, such as losing session context, missing alerts when agents pause, and the difficulty of tracking output over time. The tool was originally developed internally to streamline multi-agent development workflows and has since evolved with ongoing updates and features.

The application offers a multi-pane layout that supports up to 18 concurrent sessions across nine configurable grid arrangements. Users can group sessions into named categories, filter or collapse session headers, and reorder sessions with drag-and-drop functionality. Bulk operations such as sleep, wake, and close are available for managing multiple sessions efficiently. Each group can have its own grid layout, and switching between groups automatically adjusts the pane view.

CodeShellManager includes integration with git repositories and worktrees. Users can right-click a git session to launch a new worktree from the current branch, with sibling worktrees auto-detected when starting new sessions in the same repository. The sidebar displays git branch and dirty-state information for each session, and sessions in the same repository are visually grouped with shared accent colors and headers. The tool also supports per-session run commands, with labeled options such as Test, Build, Watch, and Run. These commands execute in a separate headless PTY to keep the Claude session output clean, and an output drawer provides controls for stopping, copying, or sending output to the terminal, with commands auto-seeded based on project type (dotnet, cargo, node, python, make).

Additional features include full-text search across all session history using SQLite FTS5, smart alerts via tray icon and balloon notifications when Claude Code requires input, and session persistence mechanisms such as sleep mode and auto-resume on startup. The application requires Windows 10 (1903+) or Windows 11 and can be installed via winget, Chocolatey, direct MSI installer, or as a portable ZIP. ai ApS.
