Cloud Clipper

Cloud Clipper is a browser extension for saving web pages as Markdown files in Google Drive. It is built for people who want to clip pages, notes, or excerpts into their own cloud storage without a middleman, a subscription, or account creation. The service is also described as free forever.

The extension offers three clip modes: Article, Selection, and Link. Article mode extracts the main body of a page and strips ads, navigation, and sidebars. Selection mode saves only highlighted text, and Link mode creates a rich bookmark with the page title, thumbnail, and description as a clickable card. Clips can include metadata such as author, source, publish date, clip date, and a user tag, and each clip is saved as a clean .md file in a chosen Google Drive folder. Cloud Clipper says its Markdown output is powered by Mozilla’s Readability engine, the same technology behind Firefox Reader View.

It is available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari, with Safari marked as coming soon. The install flow described on the page is one click from the Chrome Web Store, followed by signing in with Google to connect Drive. The page also says there is no login screen or setup wizard, and that clips save directly to any folder in Drive. Cloud Clipper is made by the team behind Folio, a markdown editor built for Drive, and clips are formatted to render well in Folio.
