Claude Chat HUD

Claude Chat HUD is a free Chrome extension for keyboard control of AI chat responses in ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. It adds keyboard hint navigation so selected text can be copied or acted on without using the mouse, and it is described for developers, researchers, and students who work in AI chats.

The extension’s workflow starts by activating an overlay with a shortcut; hints then appear beside each text block in a conversation. From there, a user types a hint letter to drill into a response block, with the view narrowing to sentences and then individual words. Pressing Enter selects all visible text, Backspace moves back up a level, and the current action runs automatically on the selection. Tab cycles through actions, while Space enters free text into template slots.

Claude Chat HUD also includes a multi-select prompt template system. It supports saved actions such as Elaborate, Define, Summarize, and custom templates, and the page says these can be fired directly on the selected text. It offers three persona profiles — Student, Researcher, and Developer — and each profile includes 10 custom action slots for complex prompt templates. For longer conversations, it provides a Notion-style outline panel for chats over 10,000 words and an in-chat bookmarks feature that lets a user drop a pin and return to it with one key.

It is available as a Chrome extension and can be installed from the Chrome Web Store. The page also states that it is completely free and requires no account.
