Booster

Booster is a video platform designed to offer a community-driven experience with a focus on limited advertisements and user engagement. It addresses common frustrations with excessive ads by allowing users to choose whether to watch ads in exchange for rewards or to disable them entirely. The platform uses an XP system as its internal currency, which can be earned through interactions or optional purchases, and is used to unlock rewards, personalize the user experience, and support communities.

Central to Booster's approach is its community structure. Users can give XP to communities they follow, becoming Supporters and contributing to the community's level. As a community's level increases, its videos gain more visibility and are more widely recommended across the platform. The platform features a "Booster Bar" that tracks Booster Points earned through XP, and leveling up this bar further boosts a community's reach. Creators can monetize their videos once they meet certain requirements, enabling them to earn ad revenue in a system that is described as fair and unbiased.

Booster implements a video recommendation algorithm that evaluates factors such as channel boost level, follower count, video views, average rating, comments, and engagement. The algorithm aims to recommend content based on both popularity and community support, with users able to influence video rankings by boosting channels with XP, commenting, rating videos, and following channels. Videos are sorted by a calculated score that incorporates these metrics, and the recommendation system is detailed with a specific scoring formula.
