Aide - AI Assistant

Aide is a customizable AI assistant app for Android designed to replace the default system assistant. It allows users to connect with a range of AI models, including Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, local Ollama, LM Studio, and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, by providing their own API keys. The app is built to give users control over their assistant experience, supporting both remote and local AI models, and emphasizing privacy by ensuring that conversations are sent directly from the device to the chosen provider without passing through Aide's servers.

Aide offers multiple interaction modes, such as chat, overlay, voice commands, and smart home control, each tailored for different use cases throughout the day. Users can invoke the assistant from anywhere on their device—by swiping from a corner, holding the power button, or using voice commands. Device actions like sending texts, setting alarms, creating events, making calls, and opening navigation are supported through voice-driven interactions. The app also integrates with Home Assistant, enabling smart home control such as dimming lights or arming alarms.

The platform enhances AI model capabilities with real-time web search and URL fetching, allowing users to ask for live information like weather updates or to summarize articles, regardless of the connected AI provider. Security is a core focus, with API keys encrypted on-device using Android Keystore and AES-256 hardware-backed encryption. Users can switch between multiple providers at any time, store conversation history, and set custom system prompts.

Aide is available on Google Play and is delivered as an Android application. It offers a free tier that includes text chat, multi-provider switching, conversation history, custom system prompts, web search, and default assistant integration. A one-time Pro upgrade unlocks additional features such as voice input and output, photo and file attachments, device actions, smart home control, and screen context awareness.
