AiSList & AiBlock

AiSList & AiBlock address the issue of AI-generated content on YouTube by providing a way for users to filter such material from their viewing experience. The solution consists of two main components: AiSList, a community-maintained blocklist of YouTube channels identified as producing AI-generated content, and AiBlock, a browser extension that enforces this blocklist directly within the user’s YouTube feed.

The blocklist is curated and updated through community contributions, with users able to suggest new channels for inclusion via GitHub issues or a Discord server. This collaborative approach ensures that the list remains current as new AI-generated channels emerge. AiBlock, the browser extension, reads the blocklist and removes listed channels from the user’s feed, search results, and sidebar in real time as the page renders, requiring no reload. The extension automatically syncs with the latest blocklist updates from GitHub, so users benefit from new additions without manual intervention.

AiBlock is available as a free, open-source extension for both Firefox and Chrome browsers, offering identical functionality across these platforms. The tool emphasizes privacy by operating locally on the user’s device, collecting no data, analytics, or tracking information. Both the blocklist and the extension are licensed under the MIT license, and their source code is accessible on GitHub for review or contribution. The project is maintained by volunteers, with no company backing, funding, or advertisements involved.
