AI Mode API Extensnion

AI Mode API Extension is a browser extension designed to convert Google's AI Mode search experience into a programmable API endpoint. By installing the extension in a Chromium-based browser, users can access AI Mode responses programmatically, receiving structured JSON data that includes the main AI-generated answer, suggested follow-up questions, and source links referenced by AI Mode. This setup allows for integration with terminals, scripts, applications, or automation tools, enabling users to query AI Mode from various environments without manual interaction.

The tool is particularly suited for research and analysis, brand and content monitoring, and SEO or marketing insights. For example, users can query AI Mode for research projects to obtain structured answers and source citations, monitor if their brand or content appears in AI Mode responses, or analyze how information about their industry or keywords is surfaced and which sources are considered most relevant by Google's AI Mode.

Installation and setup involve adding the extension to a compatible browser, after which users receive an API endpoint to begin making queries. The extension operates locally within the user's browser and does not require logging in to a Google account. All requests are relayed without being logged or stored, ensuring user privacy. The service is entirely free to use, though it enforces rate limits comparable to manual use of AI Mode, making it best suited for research and monitoring rather than high-volume production workloads.

Currently, the extension supports any Chromium-based browser, such as Chrome, Edge, Brave, or Arc. There are plans to open source the server code, allowing users to self-host the infrastructure in the future. The project is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
