WordPress AI Chatbot Plugin

WebChatAgent’s WordPress AI Chatbot Plugin adds an AI assistant to WordPress sites so visitors can receive answers around the clock. The plugin is free to use, and the setup flow is kept to a few steps: install it, enter a chatbot ID from a WebChatAgent account, and publish the chat widget on the site.

The assistant is trained on a site’s content, but the plugin itself only displays the widget. To train it on WordPress material, the site URL is added as a website data source in the WebChatAgent dashboard, where a crawler indexes pages and can re-index them on scheduled intervals on certain plans. The chatbot can also read WooCommerce product pages and shop content through that same data source, and live data such as order status or stock levels can be connected through a WooCommerce REST API connector. The feature set also includes live chat with human takeover, where a team member can step in and take over from the AI in real time, with auto-translation between visitor and admin.

Additional plugin controls are available in the WordPress admin. Colors, fonts, avatar, title, and welcome message can all be adjusted there, and a live preview shows changes in real time. The widget is described as fully responsive across phones, tablets, and desktops, and it meets WCAG 2.2 AA. Installation is available directly from the WordPress plugin directory or by uploading the ZIP file, and the chat widget appears on all pages after activation. The plugin is also described as lightweight and loading asynchronously after the page renders so it does not block layout or impact Core Web Vitals.

The plugin itself has no cost, but a WebChatAgent plan is required to power the chatbot. The free plan includes one chatbot, ten indexed pages, and 70 messages per month. WebChatAgent states that it operates in accordance with GDPR and is made in Bielefeld, Germany.
