Vocalize is a browser extension designed to read articles, PDFs, and DRM-free EPUBs aloud while removing distractions such as ads, menus, and other clutter. By focusing on the main content of a page, it delivers a streamlined listening experience using natural neural voices in over 70 languages. The tool highlights each sentence as it reads, allowing users to follow along visually, and offers instant AI-generated summaries of documents or articles before playback.

The extension supports a variety of text-based formats, including web pages, research papers, reports, and e-books, provided PDFs are text-based and EPUBs are not protected by DRM. Scanned or image-only PDFs require OCR processing before Vocalize can read them. 5× to 2× and resume listening from where they left off, as the tool remembers progress on every page. Vocalize also allows users to choose from hundreds of voices and select narrators per language.

Paid plans unlock premium neural voices, unlimited everyday listening and summaries (subject to fair-use limits), full reading history, device syncing, and faster audio generation. There is also a lifetime plan available to early users.
