Tintero can be accessed through a web browser, as a Progressive Web App (PWA), as an Android application, or via an optimized desktop application. It is built to function offline, with all features available without an internet connection, and no telemetry is sent during offline use. The platform also offers the ability to import complete projects from Scrivener and Bibisco, preserving existing structure and character data. Optional AI assistance is available, with the choice to use local models for free or external models via a token system, and the service emphasizes privacy by not storing or analyzing user data when using AI features locally.

Currently, Tintero is in a beta phase and all premium features are available for free to early users. The service notes that some online features may become paid after the beta period ends, but during beta access, users can utilize all functionalities at no cost.
