The tool operates through a simple three-step process: highlight the desired text, receive a plain-language tone analysis with specific problematic phrases flagged, and then choose a target mood for Tact to rewrite the text accordingly. Tact offers ten distinct mood options, including Diplomatic, Candid, Confident, Apologetic, Friendlier, Chill, Enthusiastic, Blunt, Boardroom, and Passive Aggressive. On the free plan, users have access to Diplomatic, Candid, and Passive Aggressive moods, while paid plans unlock all ten.

Tact is available as an extension for Chrome and Firefox browsers and is integrated to work directly within the browser versions of supported platforms, eliminating the need for additional tabs or manual transfers.
