Trust Envelope is a web-based service designed for individuals who wish to leave messages—written, audio, or video—to be delivered to recipients after a specific date or following their own passing. The platform addresses the need to preserve important words, memories, or instructions for loved ones, ensuring they are delivered at meaningful moments when the sender is no longer able to communicate directly.

Users can compose letters of up to 10,000 characters, record voice messages up to 10 minutes, or create video messages up to 30 seconds, all within their browser. Each message can be scheduled for delivery on a specific date or set to be sent after the sender's death, with flexible timing options such as days, weeks, months, or years after passing. The delivery process is managed through a check-in system: users receive periodic emails (weekly, monthly, or quarterly, as chosen) prompting a confirmation that they are still present. If a user stops responding, after a grace period they set, the messages are automatically delivered to the designated recipients.

Security and privacy are central to Trust Envelope’s design. All messages are encrypted client-side in the browser using AES-256-GCM before being uploaded, ensuring only the sender and recipient ever have access to the plaintext content. An optional password can be added to any message for additional protection, requiring the recipient to enter it to unlock the content. The service states that it does not track users, serve ads, or sell data, and is transparent about its architecture to allow users to verify its privacy claims.

Recipients receive a simple email with a link to view the message in their browser, without needing to install any application or create an account. Users can edit, update, or revise their messages and recipient lists at any time before delivery. Trust Envelope was created by San Tran in memory of a friend, reflecting its focus on personal legacy and meaningful communication beyond one’s lifetime.
