Sherlock

Sherlock is an AI-powered note-taking application designed for Mac that automatically learns from the user's on-screen activity to generate and organize structured notes. The tool operates by quietly reading the content displayed on the user's screen, such as messages, documents, and browser tabs, without requiring integrations with other applications. Its core function is to capture what is happening during a user's workday—excluding meetings—and distill this information into notes that summarize key events, next steps, and important details.

Sherlock is intended for a wide range of professionals, including product managers, sales and customer success teams, freelancers, agencies, marketers, remote teams, and content creators. By running in the background, it observes active work, automatically categorizes activities by theme, and presents users with organized notes. The application also features an AI chat interface, allowing users to ask questions about their recent activities, request summaries like a daily to-do list or a one-pager, and even recall what they were working on previously.

Privacy is a central aspect of Sherlock's design. All screenshots, activity logs, and recaps are stored locally on the user's Mac, rather than on external servers. Only relevant text is sent to external language models, such as ChatGPT or Claude, for the purpose of generating summaries or responding to chat queries, and this information is never stored or intercepted by Sherlock. Users have full control over their data, with options to pause data capture, delete recent history, or wipe all stored information at any time.

Sherlock is currently available for Mac, with a Windows version planned for the future. It is offered free during its open beta period. The application does not function as a meeting notetaker but instead focuses on capturing the broader context of a user's day-to-day work outside of meetings. No app integrations are necessary, as Sherlock tracks only what is actively displayed on the screen, deliberately excluding minimized windows, private or incognito tabs, and sensitive inputs such as passwords.
