RPClient

RPClient is a local-first AI role-playing chat client for Android. It enables users to manage character cards, lorebooks, one-on-one chats, group chats, prompt presets, summary memory, and regex scripts directly on the device without relying on hosted services for the core experience.

The application stores chat histories, characters, lorebooks, and settings locally by default. It supports importing character cards in V1 and V2 formats as JSON or PNG files and exporting in V2 JSON and PNG. SillyTavern-style lorebooks can be imported and exported. Conversation options include one-on-one and multi-character group chats along with streaming responses, regeneration, continuation, and impersonation. Additional capabilities cover long-term summary memory, prompt presets with macro expansion, prompt inspection, token budgeting, and global, preset, or character-scoped regex scripts. A local request log debugging mode is available. The interface uses Material 3 design and supports multiple languages.

RPClient does not provide model services. Users configure and connect directly to their chosen provider, such as OpenAI-compatible APIs, Gemini, Anthropic Messages, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, or a custom endpoint. Model requests are sent from the device to the selected provider. The project remains under active development and advises users to back up important cards, lorebooks, and chats before upgrading. It is distributed as a free and open source Android app through the F-Droid repository.
