Référendum Citoyen introduces thresholds that correspond to escalating levels of political impact: at 100,000 votes, results receive national media coverage; at 500,000, the group behind the platform seeks parliamentary debate; and at one million verified votes, the outcome is positioned as a political mandate that elected officials cannot ignore without electoral consequences. The application is developed and published by the association Libérez-vous Citoyens ! and is presented as a response to the perceived lack of direct democratic mechanisms in France between elections.
