Quaterio

Quaterio is a visual document editor combined with a PDF generation API. It enables design of pixel-perfect PDFs in a browser-based editor or generation at scale through its REST API. The tool addresses the need for creating reusable layouts that pull content from a CMS and export cleanly without switching between multiple separate applications.

The visual page editor supports addition of text, images, tables, and HTML blocks, with automatic content flow across multiple pages that eliminates manual page breaks. Templates allow any document to become reusable, incorporating variable placeholders for items such as invoices, reports, or contracts that can be populated through the graphical interface or the API from any data source. Export produces PDFs that match the on-screen appearance, with options for print-ready output using CMYK colors, outlined fonts, and trim marks. Documents can be set to a chosen language, with content managed in English, Swedish, French, German, and five additional languages within the same interface.

The REST API accepts templates, HTML, or Markdown to generate PDFs and returns clean download URLs featuring human-readable filenames. Webhooks notify specified URLs upon events such as document creation or PDF export, delivering a signed payload. Integrations with Zapier and n8n are listed as forthcoming. The service is delivered as a web application accessible through a browser, with no credit card required to start for free.
