Media Bridge for Etch

Media Bridge for Etch is a WordPress plugin designed to synchronize Etch Collections with a selected client-side media folder provider. It facilitates bidirectional synchronization, allowing changes in either Etch Collections or the chosen media folder provider to be reflected across both systems. The initial supported providers for this integration are Wicked Folders and HappyFiles.

The plugin offers a range of features to streamline media organization. It supports synchronization of folder creation, renaming, and movement, as well as assignment of attachments to folders. Provider-specific ordering is maintained during synchronization, and users can opt to synchronize deletions if desired. The system includes mechanisms for conflict resolution, allowing users to choose between fixed or most-recent authority when discrepancies arise. A reconciliation feature is present, and a sync history of up to 200 entries is maintained for reference.

Etch supports folder structures up to two levels deep. If the selected media folder provider contains deeper folder hierarchies, those additional levels remain unaffected by the synchronization process. Media files assigned below the second folder level in the provider are mapped in Etch to their nearest supported ancestor folder. This ensures compatibility between Etch’s folder depth limitations and more complex folder structures in the client-side provider.

The plugin is accessed and configured through the WordPress admin dashboard, specifically under the Media tab. It is intended for WordPress site administrators or users who manage media libraries and require synchronization between Etch Collections and either Wicked Folders or HappyFiles.
