Code-by-wire

codebywire.com·Infrastructure

Code-by-wire is a desktop application that provides a single live dashboard to pilot, monitor, and manage local coding agent sessions. It addresses the need for unified oversight of multiple AI coding agents running on the same machine by consolidating state information, transcripts, terminals, and telemetry into one interface.

Every session already running on the machine appears automatically upon opening the app. Sessions are grouped by project in a searchable rail that flags their live state. Users can spawn a session in an embedded terminal, fork a live one, resume one started elsewhere, or observe it in read-only mode. The full transcript reconstructs every message, tool call, and result directly from disk and renders it cleanly.

Telemetry displayed per session includes context pressure, spend, token throughput, duty cycle, git activity, tasks, subagents, and background shells. A cross-session stats view presents a year-long contributions calendar along with exact totals. The interface also shows account rate-limit windows read from disk, complete with live reset countdowns.

It requires Claude Code and/or Codex to be installed locally. The application is delivered as a downloadable desktop program. Code-by-wire is open source under the MIT license.
