INDB is an interpretational database designed around the concept of signed cognitive memory, emphasizing data integrity, privacy, and verifiability. Distinct from traditional databases or archives, INDB functions as an epistemological engine modeled on human memory, where meaning is interpreted rather than simply stored. It operates by treating all data as immutable events, each cryptographically signed and encrypted, ensuring that every fact, response, and moment is preserved with verifiable authenticity.
A core feature of INDB is its approach to data privacy and trust. The system is architected so that writer private keys are never transmitted to or stored on the server, and encrypted data—referred to as "blind_payload"—remains inaccessible even to system operators. This zero-knowledge storage ensures that not even the platform's maintainers can decrypt or access user data. INDB holds only ciphertext and public proofs, making it structurally impossible to comply with external demands for data decryption or to monetize user data. The architecture is mathematically auditable, with all API traffic exposing only signatures and public keys, never private keys or plaintext content.
INDB supports multi-protocol data intake, including HTTP, WebSocket, gRPC, and UDP, enabling high-throughput event ingestion with latency under 1 millisecond and the capacity to handle over 1,000 events per second. Its schema-less design means there are no migrations or column types; instead, every piece of data is stored as an event with a minimal set of fields, such as a unique identifier, timestamp, spatial anchor, time-to-live, and the optional blind_payload for zero-knowledge encrypted content. The system uses Ed25519 signatures and AES-256-GCM or ChaCha20 encryption for security, and employs Raft replication to ensure encrypted data is copied across multiple nodes without ever being decrypted.
The platform is accessible via a web console (WUI) and API, allowing users to verify firsthand what data the server can access. INDB is intended for scenarios where data privacy, integrity, and verifiability are paramount, and where users require a system that cannot expose or monetize their information under any circumstances.
INDB is a Databases (SQL, NoSQL, vector, graph) product. It focuses on providing a database system that stores and interprets signed facts with cryptographic integrity and flexible protocol support. It is built as a B2B product for developers building secure or interpretational data systems. INDB is available on the web, the command line, and API, and it can be self-hosted.
INDB first shipped in 2024. Key capabilities include signed memory, multi-protocol intake, and zero-knowledge payload. It exposes integrations via a public API.
