TEDI

TEDI is a desktop application designed to consolidate eight common development tools into a single, lightweight environment for developers. It integrates a terminal, SSH and SFTP file transfer, a database browser, a code editor with Vim motions, an AI agent, an in-app browser, Git support, and project memory through TEDI.md. The platform aims to streamline developer workflows by allowing these tools to communicate within one window, reducing the need to switch between separate applications.

The terminal component supports splits and tab groups, functioning as a multiplexer built on xterm.js with WebGL and native PTY support. SSH and SFTP capabilities enable remote connections and secure file transfers, while the SQL Explorer provides database browsing within the same interface. The editor features Vim-inspired motions, marks, and registers, catering to developers who prefer modal editing. An AI agent is included, accessible via the 'ask' command, and can interact with other tools in the environment. Workspaces and persistent sessions allow users to maintain their development context across sessions, and the in-app browser offers additional flexibility for web-based tasks.

TEDI is built on Tauri 2, resulting in a compact application size of approximately 7–10 MB. It emphasizes privacy by operating without telemetry and storing keys in the system keychain. The tool can be configured for "bring your own key" (BYOK) or fully local operation. A command-line interface (tedi CLI) is also available for further integration with developer workflows.

Distributed under the Apache-2.0 license, TEDI is free to use. Its design targets developers seeking an all-in-one terminal environment that combines essential tools in a single, cohesive application.
